Enter Your Data

Klox enables you to enter as much, or as little, of your company data at whatever pace is comfortable for you. Generally, the more you enter, the more value you get out of Klox. The minimum amount of data you need to enter or import from existing data sources is:

  • Employee Info. You need to enter basic information for each employee you want to track on the Klox system. You also need to define a few basic employee characteristics and allocate one or more of these to each employee. These include the employee’s job skills (with wage and billing rate data) and functional roles (permissions to access different areas of Klox functionality and company information) on the Klox system.
  • Customer Info. Basic customer and job site location information is required only for customers for whom you establish projects.
  • Supplier Info. Basic supplier and store location information is required only as you anticipate creating purchase orders for that supplier.
  • Inventory Locations. You must define your company’s various equipment and locations, such as trucks, tools and warehouses. Only basic data are required.
  • Materials Info. If you wish to utilize the materials requisitioning, ordering, receiving and usage features of Klox, you will need to create data records for each unique material you anticipate using.  These can be manually input or Klox, in conjunction with your supplier, can help you import such data to minimize data entry requirements.  “Stock items” (those you stock in inventory in the normal course of business) data, including pricing, should be input at the outset.  All other items ("special order items") need only be input as they are specified for your projects.
  • Project Info. You need to add some basic data about your projects. Each project must include the definition of at least one task. The task can be defined by as little as a simple task name, its billing type (fixed price or time & materials) and the selection of the job skill required of the employee to perform the task.
  • Certain alert threshold settings may be established if you wish to receive automated alerts for exception reporting.
